Before I get into my experiences with Hily, I’ll explain the app to folks who aren’t familiar.
Hily is a dating app to date as you are. It was founded in 2017 by Alex Pasykov, alongside co-founders Dmytro Kononov and Jake Vygnan. Their initial intention was to make online dating enjoyable and meaningful. Thus, they focused on the dating process that removes the pressure and allows us to enjoy the journey.
Now the app encourages people to share as many details about their true selves as they wish. Users can get to know one another by creating detailed profiles and answering icebreaker questions. Some of these convo starters are even designed by a professional comedian, which makes it really easy to start a cool chat with a stranger.
So, is Hily a scam? Let me share my experience.
Is Hily Legit?
Like most people signing up for a dating platform, I wondered, “Is Hily a scam?” Other apps taught me to be skeptical, but to my surprise, the Hily app started out great! Their onboarding is very easy and fast compared to other dating apps, so it felt like immediately jumping into meeting great people and starting fun conversations.

The cool thing about the Hily dating app is that there are so many funny people there. They seem to attract real weirdos (in a good way) who are just open about themselves and the idea of dating as you are which Hily promotes.
But, after about a week into signing up, I connected with a strange Hily user. Things were okay at first. Then, they asked me to jump off Hily and talk to them on some app I’d never heard of. That was surely a red flag so I ignored the request.
The next day, they asked me to accept a wire transfer for them along with some convoluted story. Now that was an entire sea of red flags! I contacted Hily dating support, figuring I would get a canned response in a few days.
Boy was I wrong!

They got back to me in minutes. The person I messaged with was so understanding. They asked the right questions, and gathered the information they needed. In the end, they thanked me for being so diligent, and told me the account had been suspended. He also warned me that dating apps like Hily have safeguards in place, so they need people to report bad actors to take action.
So, is Hily a fake? I say, absolutely not. Even better, it’s a fun dating app with great support and authenticity.
It makes me sad to see complaints and accusations about the Hily app being a scam or questioning if it’s legit. So I just wanted to share my story, and show that Hily has everything needed to deal with scammers.
You report, and they will act immediately.
